The Cedar Lake Improvement Board was originally formed for the purpose of managing aquatic nuisance vegetation within the lake. However, as lake water level issues emerged in the early 2000's, the Board also now directs and manages implementation efforts associated with an EPA and MDEQ-approved Watershed Management Plan. The Cedar Lake Improvement Board is currently comprised of six local elected officials, and one private citizen representative.
The Cedar Lake Watershed Management Plan (WMP) was first published in 2011 to identify, prioritize, and achieve Cedar Lake watershed goals and objectives. A technical update of the WMP is being planned to measure improvement progress and re-establish priority goals and objectives for the Cedar Lake watershed.
